Spread the Love: The Making Of and then some…

Right, so that song I did with Kenny Chesney, “Spread the Love,” got optioned for a music video. Naturally, the shoot took place down in the birthplace of reggae, Jamaica, particularly Kingston, where the legendary Tuff Gong studios sprouted its roots. Obviously, it wasn’t all work, but when you do what you love, when is it ever all work.
For those of you, who don’t follow me on Instagram (@ElanAtias), I posted a few of the pics I took during my time down in Kingston. You might recognize a few faces and places. If you don’t, all good, I’ll curate with a caption or two here and there.

From wherever you come, in Jamaica, you are always welcome

Coincidentally, Mexico played Jamaica in World Cup qualifying. I got a snap with Chicharito

Spread the Love: A Fund for Boston

In light of the violence that befell the good people in Boston, Kenny Chesney has agreed to donate proceeds from his single “Spread the Love” (ft. yours truly and the Wailers) to the Spread the Love: A Fund for Boston campaign. The money will go towards paying for prosthetics and post-acute care needed by Boston Marathon bombing victims. It was a pleasure just working alongside Kenny, but this just adds a a whole other depth to the power of music. When asked why he was doing what he was doing, he cooly said:

“Music can be healing. When you’re at your lowest, it can inspire – the way these athletes, their friends, family and the city of Boston inspire me. I want to give back to the ones who need it, but also to heal all of us a little bit. So, spread the love.”

Irie, no? Doing good deeds doesn’t just benefit others, it also rewards the person doing the good deed. There’s definitely too much for-self going on in the world today. We should all strive for a little less self and more selfless. Alright, that’s enough out of me. It’s starting to feel like an episode of Doogie Howser. Spread the love and buy the track on iTunes and you can listen to it on Spotify.

Kenny Chesney’s “Spread the Love” ft. Elan Atias and The Wailers

I had the pleasure of collab’ing with an artist, who has been recognized across the music board as the undisputed “King of the Road” over the past decade. That puts him ahead of Bruce Springsteen, U2, The Rolling Stones and Madonna. Crazy, right?!

Well, me, Kenny, and the Wailers got together on this irie joint called “Spread the Love.” It’s more reggae than it is country, but Kenny Chesney killed it. I can’t wait for the masses to get wind of it. Check it out on iTunes below and pay that forward to a friend. Just click the pic:

The Lions Den: “You’re The One That I Want”

Here’s the latest from the Lions Den, or my sukkah rather. It’s a dedication. My good friend, Ronen, who just tied the proverbial knot, asked me to cover Olivia Newton John’s “You’re The One That I Want” as a dedication to his beautiful wife, Lindsey. You know me. I do anything for love. So without further ado, you got me on vocals and the talented young blood, Elijah on guitar. Hope you enjoy:

Elan Live at The Roxy Theater

October 20th: Live from The Roxy Theater

That there is a flyer I put together for my upcoming performance at The Roxy Theater on October 20th. I know I haven’t  been too talkative on the blog, but rest assured, my silence stems from being quite the busy bee. Between raising a family and working on my next album as well as a few side projects, my schedule’s been booked pretty solid lately. I’m still doing my thing though. If you are in the Los Angeles area, come down to the Sunset Strip and get irie with me at The Roxy.

On the card, we got the island sounds of Inna Vision (Hawaii) and Bambu Station (Virgin Islands). I took the liberty of fetching these videos as a taste of what’s to come next Saturday:

Brethren, I ask that you share this event invitation with your friends and fam. Let’s continue pushing positivity in the reggae stylings. There are only so many places in LA that give shine to reggae and The Roxy Theater is definitely one of them. Let’s pack the house and show the rest of the City of Angels, reggae belongs here.

Tickets are now on sale at The Roxy Theater box office or you can get your tickets online here.
